First African-American Congressmen, original engraved portrait, not signed but known to be engraved by Wm. Wellstood & Co., New York.  9 x 6". From a volume published ca. 1885. Darkened at edges, stain in upper margin, not affecting images.  Near Good overall.

Portrait by a prominent Scottish-American engraver of the five most prominent African-American members of the US Congress in the Reconstruction era: Joseph Rainey of South Carolina, James Rapier, of Alabama and Mississippians Hiram Revels, Blanche Bruce and John R. Lynch.

Other copies have sold at auction for $1000 in New York and $500 in California.
