An original pair of foundry workers safety glasses. Made by J Baker and Bessemer (presumably of Bessemer converter fame). This is one of three pairs of new old stock safety glasses salvaged from the ruins of Priest and Ashmore shortly after the blitz on Sheffield in December 1940. Deep blue lenses designed for eye protection in the steel works. These are basic safety glasses with grey steel frames and teardrop finials to allow a string etc to be attached. (Box not included. It’s just to show how the glasses were found).
