c.1900  MINIATURE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS WITH RARE18ct ROLLED GOLD FRONT COVER.

Book bound in full original black leather with gilt title on spine.  18ct rolled gold upper board with cross and engine turning.  All edges gilt.  Illustrated frontispiece. Exceptionally rare in this binding.

Owner's inscription "Marjorie Pearson, Alfreton".  She may be the Marjorie Pearson recorded in the 1911 census as living in Belper Derbyshire. She was born in 1902 so this could have been a christening gift or it may date to a bit later.
