Here is a very RARE Frozen Charlotte Miniature Doll that is presented as a Skeleton . I have not been able to find another one like this one , certainly an Oddity & very collectible ! Doll is wrapped in its original cloth that is in very good condition for age , doll has no arms & was made this way it never had arms , body head & legs are one molded piece . Face still has original paint fully intact . Condition of doll is in excellent minus condition in my opinion , there is one small chip at back heel of foot ( see 4th photo ) , there is also a pin sized hole on top of head & I don’t don’t know if something was attached there or if there is another reason for hole ( see 5th & 6th photos ). The name “Frozen Charlotte” for these small porcelain dolls has its origins in an American folk ballad, based on the poem “A Corpse Going to a Ball” by Seba Smith. The ballad tells the story of a young woman named Charlotte who was traveling to a New Year’s ball in an open sleigh during winter with her beau Charles. Despite the frigid weather, she refused to cover herself with a blanket, fearing it would hide her beautiful gown. Tragically, Charlotte froze to death during the journey.

This doll will make a great addition to any Frozen Charlotte or Oddity collection .

I forgot to add some important information ! Oops! This doll was found along with a few others & doll parts in a treasure box underneath a house in the crawl space . Not sure why , perhaps hiding them from a sibling or maybe a brother hiding them from his sister because she made him mad or maybe so he could play with them ? Or a parent hiding them from a naughty child ? Maybe parent thought they were haunted or scary ? Speculation could be endless as to why they were there . I will add pictures so see last 2 photos . PLEASE NOTE : Treasure box & other dolls not included in this auction .
