BETWEEN WORLDS by Garret Smith - 1929 1949 and 2009 editions + 1919 Argosy issue

The first two known book editions of this novel, published 80 years apart!

* 1929, by Hugo Gernsback's Stellar Publishing Corporation.  96 pages.

* 2009, by Thrilling Wonder LLC.  186 pages.

Also included:

* THE ARGOSY of October 18, 1919, featuring Part II of its original publication as a five-part serial.

* FANTASTIC NOVELS MAGAZINE, July 1949, the only known publication of this novel between the first two book editions.  Illustrations by Virgil Finlay (reprinted in 2009 edition).

These copies of the three twentieth-century publications were used in the production of the 2009 edition, making this a literally unique collection for fans of… minor early SF, and its later minor editors.

The 1929 edition was formerly owned by editor/writer/fan Oswald Train, and later by the editor of the 2009 edition, Winston Engle.  It is signed by both on the title page, with more writing by Train on inside front cover.  It is decidedly worn, but still solid.  The spine is especially worn and chipped, the back cover stained, and the front cover is separating from the spine at the bottom.  Title and author are hand-written on the otherwise blank spine by an unknown hand.  One sheet (pages 71-72) was mangled in printing, resulting in folds and a portion of text rendered barely readable through double-printing on one side, and not printing on the other.  Another sheet (pages 85-86) has a lesser fold, around which all but a few letters are decipherable.

The 1919 Argosy has ragged page edges, as originally issued, with substantial wear to covers and chipping around the edges.  Much of the spine is missing.

The 1949 Fantastic Novels similarly has the rough edges of most pulps, resulting in substantial wear and chipping to all cover edges.  Additional chipping to either end of spine.

The 2009 edition is in new and unread condition.
