I am beginning to part with my vast collection iof CNJ / Central railroad of New Jersey  AKA Jersey Central Lines Signal Tower

Interlocking Track Charts. These fully detailed charts - as shown - show every switch, derail, and signal that existed back when.

These LARGE Diagrams were displayed in each tower as a guide to the operator / towerman to show possible routes and conflicts

and the order of manipulation required to move trains safely from one track to another.

The early Boolean Logic, early computer actually, interlocking machine would NOT allow the operator to make conflicting

nor dangerous movements. These are precision drawings to exacting standards, a work of art actually !

As Conrail reduced the CNJ property greatly, many tracks and interlockings were downsized and later remote controlled.

These charts are from a period of FULL SERVICE and flexibility in train operations. During my enjoyable CNJ Career

I managed to qualify and work at every CNJ Tower in existence from 1968 onward, only missing Tower A Jersey City..

This chart for PB Passaic Draw measures 14 x 40 inches, and is from a very eastern end location in Kearney,

from a swing steam powered drawbridge on the once very busy Newark & New York Branch between Newark and Jersey City.

This diagram is from the 1948 Revision, as the draw east of here - Hack Draw - was severely damaged in 1946, eliminating through

service. The diagram shows on the east / left end where four tracks once existed, two mains and tow industrial spurs, one serving the

busy Western Electric Plant there. Commuter service was still offered on the aborted branch for the WE folks, with one train direct

between Dunellen !  Most N & NY Branch passengers had to change at Elizabethport for other points. This job had the best hours for me -
11 am to 7 pm !  I would arrive along with Matty, the draw captain, who would row out to the open draw and get the steam boilers working.

Once he had enough pressure to close the bridge, we would let the drill from Brills Yard cross over to service Western Electric and

other plants.  When they were done, we would close the draw and  they would return to Brills Yard.  The hardest part of the job was

keeping a small coal stove banked over the weekends during colder weather. Fun times.

I added a page from CNJ ETT #149 showing amazing service on the Newark & NY Branch - and many direct to Kearny

for WE and Amer Ship employees, and also direct service Kearney to Plainfield !

I have also included a circuit plan for #7 switch and #13 Rail Lock movements and controllers,  on an 18 x 15 drawing.

Since they were stored clean and neatly folded, they will ship that way in a large envelope. For something this rare and valuable,

I would suggest using a Priority Mail,  Tracked and insured. It could also be sent cheaply via Media mail.

I still have lots more Diagrams and will work westbound, ans also work up from Bay Head on subsidiary RR New York & Long Branch.

Please  check out my other listings.

I am glad to combine for shipping as long as you request a total before paying.

FREE Local pick up is always an option.  I pack carefully and ship quickly, and my high Feedback Rating

attests to my decades of Ebaying happily.
