I am listing this for an old friend. It belonged to her late husband who used to keep old coins in it. He wasn't a collector, just saved old coins that he got in his change. He used to smoke a pipe so his tobacco was kept in it well before the coins. I'm guessing it dates from the 1950s or 1960s - only a guess as I am no expert, and it certainly looks its age. There isn't a hinge, the lid comes off, with instructions printed along the rim on how to remove it with a coin.
