Original NES console bundle.

The Original NES marked the beginning of the video game resurgence, and now you too can own a piece of history. Relive your childhood, or introduce the next generation to the classics.

Bundle including fully cleaned and tested console, 1 original NES Controller, 1 NES Zapper Light Gun, and 1 Super Mario/Duck Hunt game cartridge. Also includes third party DC power adapter and 1 NES-003 RF Switch (untested).

This NES Console has been cleaned inside and out, and fully reconditioned, and thoroughly tested (except RF Switch), and is in fully working condition. Actual item is pictured.

Cosmetic condition is good.

The item has two small chip on the top case (Front left and right corner) and some small scratches and scuffs due to age.

Does not include original box, and will be shipped in generic packaging.

Lockout chip has been disabled using Pin 4 method, allowing you to play Japanese Famicom games (requires adapter), European imports, clone/unlicensed games, or load ROMS/Homebrew from SD cards using adapter (eg, Everdrive N8) with no extra configuration required.

RF Switch not tested, due to not having analogue TV. Composite out works perfectly -- for cleaner output, you should always use composite if you possibly can.

Zapper requires a CRT TV to function properly. It will not work properly with a modern LCD/LED/Plasma TV. Trigger definitely works -- causes screen to flash back, indicating that the zapper should be working properly -- but cannot fully test light sensor due to not having a compatible TV.

What we have done.

Console -- Cleaned inside and out, completely disassembled, board and all contacts all hand cleaned with 99% IPA, original edge connector retained (not poor quality third party replacement). The 72 pin edge connecter/cartridge reader has been thoroughly cleaned, any corrosion removed, and every single pin has been adjusted and tightened by hand to ensure a perfect contact with your games -- we carry out at least 50 insertions and removals, and ensure game loads first time, every time during testing. Lockout Chip disabled.
Original NES Controller -- disassembled, PCB hand cleaned with 99% IPA. Membrane buttons cleaned -- b button membrane was slightly damaged, so button membrane has been added from another controller, works 100%. Shell casing washed and cleaned. Controller cable was slightly frayed -- controller cable trimmed, resoldered and tested (please note, controller cable is around 3" shorter as a result). Reassembled and fully tested.
Original NES Zapper -- Disassembled, cleaned inside and out. PCB hand cleaned with 99% IPA. Solder joints checked. Light Sensor lens cleaned and polished.
Super Mario/Duck Hunt Cartridge -- Disassembled, cleaned with 99% IPA. Contacts polished, reassembled and tested.
Third party power adapter -- This item is supplied with a generic third party power adapter. Fully working and 100% compatible with NES power requirements. Modern adapter supplies DC power, and is therefore significantly smaller and more efficient than original NES AC adapter, lowering power consumption and reducing load on NES internal power circuitry.

What we have not done.

Reducing yellowing of top shell/controller (Retrobrite) -- ABS plastic will always yellows over time. This yellow is not due to staining, but is instead a process that occurs when the plastic reacts with oxygen in the air alongside either UV Light or heat.

Many sellers reduce yellowing of consoles using a chemical method called "retrobrite". This can significantly reduce signs of yellowing and return the item to somewhere near to its original colour. It allows impressive "like new" photos, and a console that comes to you looking like it's in nearly new condition.

However, we do not retrobrite console shells by default.

Retrobrite uses chemicals Hydrogen Peroxide & oxygen bleach, and UV Light/heat to reverse the yellowing.This may result in additional degredation in the already old and weakened plastic. It is rarely a permanent solution, and yellowing may return over time which buyers often find disappointing.

We are happy to "retrobrite" this console top shell (and other yellowed components like the controller) for you, but we think it should be your choice, and done knowingly. Some people want the item as close to "new" as possible. Others prefer this look, as it adds to the "retro" charm, or prefer not to risk further degradation. Either way, the choice is yours.

This console is only mildly yellowed, and (in our opinion) the risks do not outweigh the benefits.
