A haven for memorabilia cards, 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey maintains the hit formula that yields three per Hobby box. Hits can be autographs, relics or tech inserts.
While the Rookie Redemption line is another focal point, the 2021-22 edition arrived too late to feature them, instead issuing live rookie cards. However, the rookie IOUs are back for '22-23.

Adding a new goalie-specific subset, the main 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey checklist sees an expansion to 200 cards. This breakdown consists of 100 regular base cards, 35 Stars (#101-135; #/599), 20 Goalies (#136-155; #/599), 15 Legends (#156-170; #/599), and 30 Rookies (#171-200; #/999).
Just like last year, there are many colors in the base parallel rainbow, including the Hobby-only Black (#/5).
Look for four serial-numbered base cards and/or parallels per Hobby box, with one being limited to 99 copies or less.
2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey Base Parallels Breakdown
In addition to these parallels, there are new, Hobby-exclusive Wood (1:32), Leather (1:53) and Plexi (1:80) versions for the Base Set Stars, Goalies, Legends, and Rookies cards. Retail adds exclusive Turquoise (Blasters) and Spectrum Jungle (#/15).
From there, the base set moves to Hobby-only memorabilia editions, which are offered for select names.
The base autographs and autograph relics are also only found in Hobby boxes.
As usual, the Rookie Redemption set builds on the 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey checklist, supplying cards #201 to #250. The base versions average 1:18 packs.
Otherwise, all the other Rookie Redemption cards are exclusive to Hobby, including the Roman numeral autographs, relics and autograph relics.
There are also Retro Rookie Redemptions (#1-15), falling 1:45 packs.
Moving on, the Rookie Redemption cards and acetate inserts combine to average one per Hobby box.
This Hobby-exclusive acetate selection includes 2005-06 Clear Cut Retro Artifacts Rookies (1:67), 2021-22 Clear Cut Artifacts Rookie Update (1:50) or 2022-23 Clear Cut Artifacts Rookies (1:67).
On top of that, there are still plenty of hits to cover in 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey. The debuting Award Winners Autographs (#/25) is one of five "living set" inserts that are exclusive to Hobby boxes. These are hard-signed and pay tribute to past and present stars with major hardware on their mantle.
Other on-card continuation sets include Admirable Impressions (#/24), adding seven cards in its fourth year, Esteemed Endorsements (#/28), in year five, Signature Apparel (#/36 or #/12), in its third year, and Storied Scripts (#/25), back for a sophomore effort with 10 more names.
In addition, young talent abounds in Top Tier Rookie Signatures (1:1,000) and Top 12 Rookie Signatures - 2021-22 Update (1:2,000).
Brand staple AutoFacts (1:33) returns, as well, and is joined by the throwback 2005-06 Retro AutoFacts (1:112) insert.
Putting the spotlight on memorabilia, 2022-23 Upper Deck Artifacts Hockey features modern (1989-2021) and vintage (1949-1988) Game Ticket Artifacts cards. The numbered cards display a piece of a ticket from a key game.
Another option is the game-used NHL Remnants (1:40) series, which offers a Premium (#/25) patch parallel.
Boasting actual game-used jersey swatches from their rookie season, Year One Rookie Sweaters (1:240) highlights the '21-22 rookies. The Premium parallel has only 25 copies.
Reloading again, Arena Artifacts (#/95) honors the Boston Garden with relics from the famed arena. The set features all-time greats for the Boston Bruins who played at the Boston Garden.
Another returning element is the Aurum Bounty Card Program through the Upper Deck Bounty website. The shiny Aurum set displays Gold Light FX etching.
Look for Aurum Signatures cards that are numbered to 25 or five copies.
Those that collect the full 48-card set can enter the scratch-off bounty codes to redeem the TBA rookie achievements (cards #49 and #50).
Depending on how quickly this is entered and redeemed, other prizes are possible.
