WILL ROGERS is beautifully portrayed in this vintage table lamp: dressed as an American cowboy, he poses realistically in chaps, his hat typically titted back on his head,  unruly hair falling across his forehead,  and smiling widely  --  appearing as he would in his early vaudeville days as a roping expert.

The lamp, dating from the l920s or 1930s, is ALL ORIGINAL and the rare painted light bulb and lamp WORK. The light bulb head is silk screened in black and integral to the lamp and in good condition.   It sits atop a cream painted metal base that's nicely detailed and accented with brown highlights and a cracleur finish.   Topping the lamp is a heavy felt-finish paper (?)cowboy hat, rimmed with a yellow and brown twisted cord ribbon-tied headband and carmel brim edge.

With hat on, the lamp is 12 3/4 inches high by 5 inches wide at chaps and 3 1/2 inches diameter on the base. The hat has some (moth?) holes on the brim and the edge of the right chap has as small break (see pic, enlarged). Electrical is original; you may wish to update.   Lamp sans hat is 12 inches tall.

Will Rogers (1979-1935) was one of the most-admired celebrities of the 1920s and 30s, often referred to as an "unofficial ambassador for the United States".  He was genuine American cowboy, born in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma.

He was a humorist, social commentator, vaudevillian, silent and talking movie star and author of six books, over 3500 newspaper columns and known for his pithy phrases and witty humor.  He also staunchly supported American aviation (and died at 55 in a plane crash on an exploratory flight to Alaska with noted one-eyed airman Wiley Post, the first pilot to fly solo around the World).

Rogers has been called "America's Cowboy Philosopher" and "The Cherokee Kid"  by fans and is still revered as remaining a simple cowboy in spite of international celebrity.

Have never seen any version of this lamp despite lots of research. It can be a unique addition to your Will Rogers, Americana, or Movie/Entertainment  Memorabilia collections.
