These art prints are part of the "Colors
of Time" cultural and educational project
(2015-2020). A well-known Russian artist and culturologist Oleg Krylov
was the project manager. The project has received various awards,
including from the Moscow City Hall. The project was planned to continue
until 2020, but
early 2020 it was completed due to the c*****virus.
These prints were ordered from the manufacturer Mr. Mishkin and made in 2015-2020 in Moscow, Moscow region (Russia) and Riga (Latvia). Mr. Mishkin is a specialist in silk-screen printing, lithography, sublimation printing and other similar types of art printing. The general art prints were included in the project fund and are located in Moscow. The rest of prints - auxiliary or duplicate copies - are mostly sold out for personal collections. The offered prints were bought from the manufacturer in bulk in Riga in the summer of 2020. |
Support fabric is of natural origin - linen,
cotton, hempen, jute fabric - canvas or sackcloth (see photo). The fabric is
impregnated with special compounds to increase durability. The backing primer
material is soft and elastic with a complex composition. This material and
impregnation was developed and / or modified by the manufacturer. The primer
was applied by hand in several layers (from 2 to 4).
The pictures are printed by indirect transfer dye-sublimation printing. It is also completely handmade. The number of printed copies of pictures varied slightly, in most cases they were small - up to 10 copies, but more often 3-5. The picture can be rolled up, but preferably not for a long period of time - a few days maximum. According to the manufacturer, if a picture has been rolled up for a long time, it can be smoothed by ironing it with a not very hot iron (1, maximum 2 position) from the back side. We have not conducted such experiments. It is undesirable to fold the picture, it can be difficult to completely straighten the folds even with the help of an iron. Long-term sun exposure of the picture is not recommended. A short-term exposure will not harm, but if you hang the picture on a wall, which is often and for a long time exposed to the sun, the image may fade after a few months. There are no markings on the prints related to artists, printing time, number of copies, etc. We found the names of many artists, but far from all of them. In those cases when we can confidently identify an artist’s name, we mention the name. In cases when we do not know the name or are not sure, we put a question mark - ?
