Description
This Ethiopia 1 Birr silver coin is from year 1895 according to the Ethiopian calendar (1903 Gregorian calendar). The large 40-mm coin features king Menelik II on the obverse and the Lion of Judah on the reverse. The coin was engraved by Jules-Clément Chaplain and minted by Monnaie de Paris (due to the fact that this coin was minted just before the mint in Addis Ababa was established).
