Pencil signed etching by noted California artist, Edward Borein (1872-1945). Borein is known for art depicting western scenes, including cowboys, horses and California mission scenes. This is a larger sized etching, but the paper margins may have been trimmed and the print is adhered to a paper board by a framer.  A professional paper conservator could likely remove the print from the backboard, but please consult with your restorer about potential restoration.

The plate edges (impression) measure approximately 12.5 x 9 in. The print (paper) edges measure 15.25 x 10.25 in. (as I mentioned, this is size of potentially trimmed margins). And the backing board measures 16.5 x 10.75 in.er.

A title penciled at lower left reads, ‘San Carlos de Borromeo, Carmel California’. At lower right, Borein has signed and dated in pencil. The print displays in dark, toned condition, but otherwise shows no tears or abrasions.
