This is a miniature paintings that was done on an early Persian manuscript page. It was common in the mid 20th century for bazaar sellers in Persia to make paintings for tourists on old manuscript pages with handwritten calligraphy. Although the pages are from the 18th century, the miniature scene was painted much later. The scene is from a Persian storybook and we can see a palace
scene with courtiers entering a doorway where they will most likely meet with the princess seen above in the window (probably Shareen). Painting measures 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches. Entire framed/matted piece measures 11.5 inches by 9.5 inches, and the frame and white mat board are new.
