・How to do: First, put the same number of wooden tags with numbers written on tickets into a large box. Next, rotate the box and insert an awl through the hole on the side to pierce the wooden tag to determine the winning number. A predetermined amount of money is then delivered to the owner of the winning ticket.

・Until the mid-Edo period, lottery tickets were mainly issued by temples and shrines.

・However, the clans realized that this business could be profitable and began issuing lottery tickets in the late Edo period.

・The reason why the clans got involved in this lottery business was due to the poor finances of the clans.
