Dip switches easily set the device to ideal settings for your network needs

4 dip switches on the front panel:

  • SNR noise margin - 6 dB for especially good connections, or 9 dB to not cut out signal on suboptimal connections
  • SYM/ASYM - Symmetric mode is optimal for VoIP networks, asymmetric mode where upload bandwidth can be sacrificed for download speed
  • 30a/17a - Chooses the frequency band for operation (30a is high-speed mode, 17a is long-reach mode)
  • OT/RT - Chooses role of device, each device should be set to opposite role (OT is CE or sender, RT is CPE or receiver)

How do I troubleshoot my connection? How do I know what's wrong with it

It's always a good idea to do a setup in a test environment, connecting devices with a short cable, connecting the sender to the signal source and the receiver to a laptop to verify that the parameters are right and that the laptop has a connection

Connect receiver w/ the long cable to see if they are faulty. Then, narrow down and test possible faults, individually with every device in your Ethernet network, replacing the simple network configuration with your real network devices one at a time

Is it wireless? Can I use phone lines to connect the two devices?

The device only extends the connection, and does not transmit it wirelessly. The sender and receiver still need to be connected. Yes, you can use phone lines to connect the two devices, the VDSL ports on the devices are compatible with phone cables.

How to power the device? Can it be powered with PoE

The device can be powered via PoE, but it cannot transmit the PoE power downstream

How do install the device?

There is a quick installation manual in the packaging of each device, which you can use to troubleshoot installation. It is also available as a PDF on the product photos page, and includes the function of every component of the device.

The Long-Reach Solution for Your Ethernet Network

The LAN port is designed to connect to the local network, while VDSL port is designed to connect to the other TEX-100 device in the pair. The VDSL port uses a single twisted pair of wires, or any copper wiring used in telephony. The devices need to have a direct path between their VDSL ports with nothing in between them. It is also possible to run multiple pairs of TEX-100 devices using a single cable by using different twisted pairs, but cross interference is possible depending on cable quality
