This sale is for a vintage hardback FIRST EDITION entitled “Richard Jefferies’ London,” edited with an Introduction and Notes by Samuel J. Looker, with 10 illustrations specially drawn by E. E. Briscoe, including a frontispiece.

 

It was published by Lutterworth Press, of London and Redhill, and is the 1944 FIRST EDITION (stated).

 

Richard Jefferies (1848-1887) is best known for his prolific writing on all subjects relating to the countryside of late Victorian England as well and books on the nature in and around London.

The book measures 7.75 inches 5.25 inches and has 184 pages + illustrations.

 

The book is in good, neat condition for its age, with wear and tears/loss around the ends of the spine of the original dust-jacket (not price-clipped), a previous owner’s 1944 gift inscription at the front and no other ink or pencil markings in the book.  The binding is good with no loose or missing pages.
