This is an original c. 1915 photograph which measures approx. 11 3/4" x 14" in size (with the original matting). It shows the family of Peter J. SIMONS (b. 12 September 1858 in Chicago) and his wife Mary (OCHS) SIMONS (b. 20 July 1858 in Detroit). The last name is sometimes given as SIMON. Peter's father was a Prussian immigrant who came to Chicago in the 1850s, many years before the Great Fire. Peter & Mary lived at #5927 Green Street, Chicago in 1910, and at #2719 35th Street, Chicago in 1920. This photo was likely taken at their 35th Street home (note the bay window shown in the photo and present on the home itself - see snip) which is in the Brighton Park neighborhood. The other individuals in the photo are children and in-laws of Peter & Mary (plus a grandchild). Peter worked as a foreman at a box factory, and later was a locomotive engineer.

The others in the photo include: Elizabeth (Simons) MOHR (b. 17 December 1886 in Chicago) and her husband Albert A. MOHR; Gus J. SIMONS (b. 8 April 1882 in Chicago) and his wife Elizabeth; J. P. SIMONS Sr. (b. 2 August 1894 in Chicago); Sue (SIMONS) MIESEN (b. 30 April 1889) and her husband John MIESEN; Mamie (SIMONS) FREITAG (b. March 1893 in Chicago) and her husband Frank FREITAG. Two of the couples were married in 1914. J. P. married in 1918 and is single here, so clearly the photo is between those two dates (very likely within a year of 1915).

There is even a patriotic photo of a soldier on the wall, just visible in this photo - possibly Spanish-American War? A wonderful identified family photo with deep Chicago connections.
