This sale is for a
vintage hardback edition entitled “Traffic,”
subtitled “The Story of a Faithful Woman,” by E. Temple Thurston (1879-1933) – Author of “The City of Beautiful
Nonsense,” “The Greatest Wish in the World,” “Sally Bishop,” etc., etc.
It was published
by Chapman and Hall, Ltd., of London, and is the 1912 new and cheaper edition
(the first edition was 1906 – at which point this was the author’s third book).
An early novel by Ernest
Temple Thurston who went on to become a prolific English author. He
wrote a total of forty novels, from which seventeen motion pictures were made.
In addition, he authored several theatrical plays, three of which were
performed on Broadway and
four of which were made into motion pictures.
The book measures
7.5 inches x 5.5 inches x 1.3 inches and has 316 pages.
The book is in
good, internally neat condition for its age, with wear/bumps (frayed/tatty
around the top of the spine) and is a little grubby/faded to the original cloth
hardback cover. There are NO inscriptions/book-plates and NO other ink or
pencil markings in the book. The binding is good with no loose or missing
pages. There is no dust-jacket.
