"Old early 1930s basket of
unused medicinal tea recovered from the pantry at a Chinese estate sale in
Oakland, California. Tea appears to be a dark loose leaf tea, possibly an Liu
An or Lu'an. Tea is wrapped in woven bamboo leaves and inserted into a basket
form made of bent bamboo.
Hallmarks: Includes two original printed pieces
of tissue paper with Chinese characters.
Dimensions: Length 6 1/4" x Width 5" x
Height 3 3/4".
Weight: 506 grams or 17.8 oz.
Condition: Bundle is shown as found, slightly
open with the printed sheets having been neatly tucked under the lid of woven
leaves. The bundle itself was wrapped in newspaper dating to 1933, this was
enclosed in a large biscuit tin box. Tea is dry and does not show any damage
from insects or the elements. Tea has no strong or foul odors, it smells
faintly fragrant like old dried tea. I am selling this tea purely for
decorative and historical reasons; I do not recommend brewing tea.
Please note: I sold a similar tea bundle last
week. This is the second and last tea bundle I have made by this brand with
this label. Buyer was very happy with purchase and left positive feedback.
Buyer mentioned tea was from Guangzhou, China; possibly a Lu'an or Liu An
basket/bucket tea, possibly made by the "Li Runchun Tea Shop."
