This exceedingly rare work of art by the Swedish sculptor Roger Johanson
is a tour de force of the modern abstraction!
Titled VICTORY, we see a woman raise her arm in triumph
after what appears like a race. She is bent over and spent from her
efforts, but still has the strength to proclaim her victory with her
extended arm!
This type of direct metal sculpture was incredibly difficult
to construct. It uses many pieces of metal melted together to
form the sculpture. For VICTORY, Johanson used a non-ferrous metal
and attached to a redwood base. This is an incredibly powerful
work and the message of victory and triumph it sends
transcends all times and all places.
Gorgeous condition. Light age wear to redwood base. Displays beautifully!
Mid Century Swedish Modern works by Johanson are rarer
than hens teeth and coveted by collectors.
