my 2007 Skoda Octavia Laurin and Klement TDI Automatic 5 door hatchback.
I have owned this vehicle since January 2015 and it has been in daily use since then. Mileage is 173462 which will increase as it is still in use. This is the Laurin and Klement trim level - top of the range. It has - sunroof; electrically adjustable drivers seat with memory setting; heated front seats; half leather/alcantara seats; headlight wash/wipe; 17" alloy wheels; spare wheel is full size; CD changer in boot; full electric windows and mirrors; huge boot; over 50mpg; lots of service history been well looked after while I've had it.
Now, Stuff you need to know:
- I have listed it as spares or repairs because it has accident damage to the rear and passenger side. It was a Cat S write-off in August 2023 which has not been repaired. It was re-tested following this and MOT now until 19/09/2024.
- Very recently, the automatic gearbox is developing a fault - not always changing up the auto gears as before. It drives and changes gear perfectly when used in manual mode.
- When the car engine is put under pressure, e.g. with 4 passengers and going up a steep hill, the car goes into limp mode. This is soon rectified by stopping the car, turning the engine off and re-starting it. It has been doing this for 2 or 3 years now. The gearbox issue is the reason that I am getting rid of the car.
- There are some other issues -
- rear parking sensors not working after the accident damage;
- the air-con has never worked since I had it - apparently its the condenser;
- the navigation system does not work and the display for the system, including radio/CD does not work. However, the radio still works fine;
- One or both of the front discs are a bit warped - not enough to fail MOT but on braking sharply, there's a bit of vibration;
- Obviously, scratches and wear you would expect on a 17 year old car;
- Coolant expansion bottle has a crack in it;
