Presented today we have a lovely example of the now Rolex owned brand vintage Bucherer Weekday automatic. This brilliant gold plated day date automatic from the 1970s is powered by the near chronometer status, adjusted to three positions, Swiss made ETA 2788 automatic movement. This finely crafted machine has been serviced and is keeping excellent time. The movement is nestled snuggly and securely in the 36mm wide without the crown and 35.5mm hooded lug to hooded lug gold plated case. With its 19mm lugs, the case has been fitted to a new Hadley Roma brand stitched black leather two piece strap with silver tone buckle. A $25 value in itself this fine strap will appeal to those who know quality leatherwork. A name you can trust, Hadley Roma will provide you with a secure fit and luxurious feel. The case itself features a screwdown stainless steel case back showcasing a mirror polish finish and a brilliant engraving of the Bucherer logo with the trademark 1888 date inscription. Designed to be sleek and refined in nature the case features a recessed crown. While a great look it does make initial winding somewhat cumbersome due to its diminutive nature. Although manual winding is still possible being an automatic though this is over come ideally by placing the watch on a watch winder and once sufficiently wound from the automatic works the time and date are set easily and its ready to be enjoyed. The case sides are a polished finished and the bezel is a soft bushed finish in the gold plate. The case does have some gold loss / wear and age markings from its 50+ years in service that I've tried to show but nothing that would detract from its great wrist presence as you can see. Under the near flawless crystal, there is a tiny scratch about the 10oclock mark on the crystal, lies a pristine and radiant golden sunburst dial. This immaculate dial is encircled by a golden reflective chapter ring marked with a black hashed minute track. Within this track are the multifaceted, polished, raised block indices denoting the hours. In the same brightly polished prominence as the hour markers, the Bucherer logo is raised and center stage on the dial at the 12 o'clock position. The time is told by the polished golden original faceted baton hand set. All dial print is done in an elegant black tone as well as the day and date displays that are positioned at the 3 o'clock position. The date(not the day) does have a quickset function and that is activated in the crowns 2nd position when winding the crown in a clockwise direction. While an extremely handy feature, it can also cause issues for novice watch collectors. So as such I feel the need to advise that the qucikset feature not to be used while the hands are showing the hours between 830pm and 3am. Simply advance the hands in time setting mode outside of this time frame and then use the quickset and set the correct time. Using the quickest while the date mechanism is engaged during those hours can cause damage so it is advised to follow the procedure described. All in all this fine vintage Swiss timepiece is the efficient and elegant automatic youve been looking for. You know the name Bucherer has been producing quality watches for generations when the crown Rolex now owns them. Dont miss your opportunity to own a great piece of horological history and add this wonderful Weekday automatic to your collection today.

I've tried my best to highlight the condition of this piece with the description as well as photos under a variety of light sources but please read the description and browse the photos to determine for yourself if this is the right watch for you. As a disclaimer for anyone unfamiliar with vintage timepieces I feel the need to also point out that even if gaskets have been replaced that any vintage antique watch should avoid contact with water no matter what the case says. Water tightness cannot be guaranteed after so many years and this must be stated. Any questions feel free to ask. Payment must be made within 24 hours of end of auction and no international shipping.
