August 1947: Small wormhole at bottom, not extending past blank area of interior. Three narrow wormholes at top, extending past first line of text only on a few sheets. Back cover and most of spine missing. Front cover held on by thick piece of clear packing tape around spine. Small piece of front cover missing beside tape.
November 1947: Spine chipping. Front cover slightly detached. Small tears to front cover beside spine, with edges folded over. Ballpoint notations on back cover.
January 1949: Several small nicks out of surface of front cover. Similar marks on back cover, but with a small piece torn loose into a flap.
February 1949: Spine ends chipped. Lower part of spine slightly crumpled. Pencil notation on blank area of back cover.
March 1949: Some wrinkling from dampness. Reading creases on front cover.
April 1949: Covers very creased, worn, and dirty, including paint marks. Front cover is wrapped around spine and held in place with tape, revealing edge of interior. Pencil notations on front cover.
June 1949: Front cover completely detached. Paint smears on front cover. Much of spine missing. Two blank areas of back cover missing. Numerous small tears and folds on covers.
July 1949: Reading crease on front cover beside spine, and shallower crease down middle. Bottom quarter of back cover cut off.
September 1949: Reading crease on front cover beside spine. Staples wearing through front cover. Piece of tanned cellophane tape around spine over date. Pencil notation on front cover.
October 1949: Two small rips and one small piece missing on front cover. Several long creases on front cover. Spine ends chipped and separating. Back cover and spine browning. Mildew spots on last interior page.
November 1949: Spine chipped at ends and tanning. Bottom spineward corner bruised. Staples starting to wear through front cover.
December 1949: Chip out of middle of spine. Small piece missing from upper edge of front cover. Front cover separating slightly. Staples wearing through. Crease to corner of front cover. Browned band at bottom of back cover.
January 1950: Front cover quite worn. A couple pieces of cellophane tape around spine. Mildew stains to back cover and last few sheets. Spine chipped at ends and middle.
June 1950: Faint water staining at edges. Spine chipped. Pencil notation on back cover.
July 1950: Chip at corner of front cover. Lower spineward corner crumpled. Spine chipping and separating at ends. Browning at edges.
August 1950: Mildew stains to back cover and last sheet. Reading crease on front cover beside spine. Pencil notation on front cover. Staples wearing through.
September 1950: Pencil notation on front cover. Covers somewhat faded. Spine tanning.
October 1950: Two small holes in front cover. Light staining (mildew?) to back cover. Corner of bacjk cover and last two sheets creased. Date stamp on front cover.
November 1950: Covers quite faded and worn. Coffee cup stain on back. Spine chipped. Reading crease on front cover beside spine, and shallow crease on corner. Spots of what may be paint on front cover.
December 1950: Rip with missing piece at top of front cover, through second sheet. Covers quite faded. Small rips at edges of back cover.
This is not a complete description of condition, but what strikes me as the most significant defects.
