This very large hand painted iron dial comes from a 18th century longcase/grandfather clock. It dates from around 1795 to 1825. Dating source: Painted Clocks 1770-1870 by Brian Loomes. Published 1994.

As you can see there is some minor overall deterioration to the finish, some pitting and some wear. Some of the black paint has faded, but the motifs are all still vibrant. Overall the decorative paintwork is in good order.  Fitted with new, period style hands.

52 x 36 x 4.5cm

Fitted with a high quality battery quartz mechanism that is fully guaranteed for twelve months. Requires one AA battery which is supplied with the clock.
