Details

  • Description: A nice choice very fine or much better 1933 (1352 AH) Egyptian two and a half milliemes copper-nickel coin. This octagonal coin is of a denomination that is very unusual and in fact this is the only Egyptian coin that has this denomination. It is a one year type coin depicting the uniformed bust of king Fouad the First or Fuad I of Egypt during the British occupation. He is wearing a fez and facing left. The coin shows the denomination on the reverse as well as the date of issue as 1933 AD and 1352 AH and the words Egyptian Kingdom. It has a toothed border and a plain edge. This is a rather scarce coin in this grade since it is of very low denomination and normally would have seen extensive circulation. It is KM-356. It measures approximately 20 mm in diameter and weighs ~3.0 grams. Please carefully view the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description.

  • Date: 1933 AD - 1352 AH.

  • Mint: Egypt.

  • Size and weight: This is a 2 1/2 milliemes measuring ~20 mm in diameter and weighing ~3.0 grams.

  • References: It is KM #356.

  • Condition: I would grade this coin as a nice choice very fine or much better with all the details being very well preserved and having very nice eye appeal. The coin shows light wear to the high points such as the king's cheek, ears, and the tassels on the fez. It is our opinion that the reverse is at a better state of preservation than the obverse with all the lettering being very distinct and having minimum wear. The reverse is very nice with sharp lettering and very little wear (I would have graded the coin extremely fine or better based on the reverse only). The coin is nicely toned and has nice eye appeal. It is generally free of observable problems. It is much better than the scan shows. It does have a few bag marks, some scratches, some soiling, and wear commensurate with its age and circulated state. Please see photo for additional condition information.
