You don't need a paper filter nor a holder. Just place it on top of your mug, fill it with your freshly ground beans, and start pouring your hot water. (Remember to just wet the beans with your hot water and let them bloom for 30 seconds -- then pour the rest). In less than 5 minutes, you'll have a great pourover coffee. 

When you're done making you coffee, you can empty the grinds in the trash and rinse the filter in your sink. It's so simple and clean. No taste of paper filters in your coffee.
