In 1931, the Port Authority opened two major bridges - the George Washington Bridge on October 24th and the Bayonne Bridge on November 14th. The George Washington Bridge Dedication was a major affair, with politicians like Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt taking part in the ceremonies.  The event was commemorated with two gold medals, silver medals, and bronze medals in two sizes, a hanging badge and the round medal seen here.
