The former owner of plates was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. MS, when it was still named Mississippi Southern College

Again, not used, but not “new.”

The University of Southern Mississippi was founded on March 30, 1910, as Mississippi Normal College, a teacher-training school.

Name changed in 1924, to Mississippi State Teachers College.

Changed to Mississippi Southern College 1940

1962, Governor Barnett signed bill into law which officially renamed the school as the University of Southern Mississippi
