Laura Ashley most wanted dress - featured in the 1984 Bridal Catalogue
True Vintage size 10 - Laura Ashley wedding dress -
bought in 1980s from Laura Ashley in York.
with its original hoop underskirt, and metal adjustable and / or removable hoop,
The dress and underskirt are 100% cotton and were never worn and just tried on a couple of times since bought.
Both are labelled a size 10
Some yellowing on the top part of the underskirt where it was hung up for a while by the cotton belt and not the hooks inside the skirt.
And some faint yellowing on the top ruffle part of the dress
I havn't done anything with either the skirt or dress as I wanted to keep them original and untouched.
No rips, stains, repairs, adjustments, etc
On the dress, the elastic in the arms has lost its stretch.
The Underskirt has a metal flat long strip, or band that slides into the bottom of the underskirt ( you will see two little splits in the fabric of the skirt where it feeds into and the band is adjustable.
The skirt can have a wide or narrow hoop depending on how big you want the circle to be. Just keep threading the metal band into the skirt and tighten it as you want by threading it completely into the skirt and gently easing it into the size you want. It pulls out easily and can be rolled up when not needed.
The underskirt is labelled a size 10 but is adjustable at the waist and will fit up to 40 inches waist and 40 inches hips as the belt is a thin white cotton band which ties at the waist..
The original sticker label is still attached to the underskirt label that says "please remove hoop before washing"
The dress has a boned body and pleats at the waist. Beautifully made, It has short sleeves with bows on each arm,
and a full circle skirt also with bows. It is a long ball gown which is zip fastening at the back
The dress is often described as a priarie or bo peep style,
