The brilliant SALLY VICTOR, among the foremost American milliners, created this saucy, finely woven black straw BOATER/SAILOR hat in the early 1960s.

Black grosgrain ribbon  makes the headband, edges the brim and completes this classic design with a tasseled tie to beautifully contrast with the brilliant shine of the licorice black finely woven straw.  Inside of crown is lined in taffeta to support the flat crown design, among the fine details  for which Victor is admired and known.

Called a sailor or boater style, the hat is 13 inches diameter with a 3 inch brim and 3 1/2 inch high crown.  Medium size, it measures 22 inches at the inside hatband.   Condition is like new, near unworn; straw tightly woven, unblemished, clean (see closeup photos).

Label reads  SALLY VICTOR HEADLINES.

Beginning in 1927, Sally Victor was the go-to milliner for the well-dressed woman for almost four decades and remains an inspiration for today's top designers.  The  BOATER IS  BACK IN VOGUE TODAY, in fact.  ( See the YSL  version current Chanel Collection)
