Presented today we have an extremely rare and hard to find Hamilton Escort day-date caliber 826 automatic in stainless steel. This gleaming example comes direct from the disco era of the 1970s. During its production Hamilton made 2 versions of this fine timepiece. One in gold plate with a deep burgundy red dial and this one. The stainless steel version with its deep ocean blue dial. The latter being the much rarer and desirable version due to its versatility and ability to be worn on almost all occasions. As of this listings posting it is the only one listed on ebay highlighting its rarity. This swiss masterpiece is powered by the caliber 826 automatic and it has been freshly serviced keeping excellent time. You can count on its reliability and durability. This movement has been fitted snuggly and securely into a unique 40mm wide without the original signed crown and 39mm hooded lug to hooded lug stainless steel Brevet Stardal compressor case. These extremely cool and unique cases are also sometimes referred to as a "TV Dial" watch due to its similarities in shape to the classic tube televisions of years past. Brevet known for its patented compressor technology in cases designed cases that would increase in water resistance as the wearer submerged and pressure increased. Long gone are the days of this watches waterproof capabilities but what remains is a wonderful salute to the engineering marvels of the horological past. Exquisitely finished this jumbo sized case features a brushed bezel and two toned finish cases sides with a mirror like finish on the upper portion and silk like brushing on the lower portion. The back is a screwdown back with a mirrored polish and brushed caseback center. There are a few age dings on the case most notably the small mark on the bezel at about the 5oclock position but overall it is in a highly graded condition. I would say you would be hard pressed to find a nicer example. Underneath the scratchfree acrylic tv dial style acrylic crystal lies the star of the show and that is the deep resonating ocean blue dial in pristine condition. This beautiful example looks like it was made yesterday. With its entrancing and hypnotically engulfing tone you will never want to take your eyes off it as if you were gazing into the sea itself. This dial features perfectly polished silver and white enamel highlighted indices as well as the applied and polished Hamilton H logo. The original matching white enamel and polished silver handset still retain their original bright sheen and crisp highlights. The Hamilton brand and self-winding notations are also done in a perfect offseting white to the rich hue of the blue dial. At 3oclock lies a silver framed day date window with black print and a crisp white background. As mentioned before this near perfect example does have its original crown which can be used to take advantage of the 826's day date quick set function and that is activated in the crowns 2nd position. While an extremely handy feature, it can also cause issues for novice watch collectors. So as such I feel the need to advise that the qucikset feature not to be used while the hands are showing the hours between 830pm and 3am. Simply advance the hands in time setting mode outside of this time frame and then use the quickset and then set the correct time. Using the quickest while the date mechanism is engaged during thise hours can cause damage so it is advised to follow the procedure described. This steel work of art has been fitted with its 19mm hooded lugs to a brand new Hadley Roma black stitched leather two piece strap with silver tone buckle. Those who know quality straps know the name Hadley Roma. A $25 value in itself, this durable and sharp strap ensures a comfortable and secure fit to almost any wrist. You will feel the Hadley Roma quality difference once strapped on. All in all this fine timekeeper has everything going for it. Elegance, luxury, sport this watch says it all. With its swiss reliability and functionality you will always be on time but with its look and tone you will be the talk of crowd. Dont miss your opportunity to add this crown jewel collection completing piece to yours today.
