This stunning paper sculpture is a true work of art, featuring a magnificent eagle with wings and body in intricate origami style. Crafted from paper (likely magazine pages) and papier-mache.
When researching these sculptures I came across an article about the Golden Venture, a cargo ship carrying Chinese immigrants that ran aground in New York. Survivors were imprisoned in York, Pennsylvania and made these sculptures to help pay legal fees. I cannot authenticate the sculpture but it very well may be one of those sculptures as I found them near York.
