Lanonia magalonii:  This little known small palm is native to rainforests in northern Vietnam. A stunning small palm that is the cool-tolerant answer to exquisite tropical beauties. Native to the undergrowth of montane rainforests on granite rocks in central Vietnam, it is much more tolerant of cool conditions than the other species that originate in tropical lowland rainforests and will not thrive outside a humid, tropical climate. Lanonia magalonii forms slender, briefly erect stems that can be solitary or clustering. Each stem holds up to 12 leaves in an open crown, that have 3 to 4 segments, with the lateral segments narrow and the central segment very broad and usually split into two lobes. The palm is virtually unknown in cultivation but would do well in most tropical and many warm temperate climates.         Plant for sale is a well grown seedling shown in the 4 photos in front of timber door in a 70mm by 100mm deep seedling pot, The other 5 photos are of more mature plants for reference purposes only.
