・The paper of this bill is dyed blue or green to prevent counterfeiting. However, the color of the clan bills had another meaning. During the Edo period, many of the peasants who used clan bills could not read. What is more, many of them could not even read numbers.

・In particular, peasants in rural areas were even more illiterate. For this reason, the clan bills were different according to the amount of money so that they could understand the amount of money on the clan bills. For example, in the case of this clan bill, the color of the 1Momme clan bill was white; the color of the 10 Momme was blue or green.
