Limoges France I'd a region in Central France that was best known for centuries for its production of high-quality porcelain. Limoges porcelain is prized by collectors and connoisseurs around the world. In the early 17th century Kaolin clay was discovered in Germany and the secret to Chinese Porcelain was finally uncovered. It was in the mid to late 18th century that Kaolin clay was discovered in Limoges France in 18 miles southwest of Limoges at St. Yrieix.

Kaolin Limoges clay is translucent, durable, nonporous and pure white. Limoges porcelain combines a very fine, pure, white clay(Kaolin) with pulverized feldspar and quartz.
