This is my second auction listing for a nice Dr. Townsend‘s Sarsaparilla. It’s light blue-green and in about mint condition. Pix 11 and 12 with other bottles (not included in this auction) for color comparison. Texture -wise, the surface of this Townsend is highly whittled, crude and has a bit of orange peel in places. Also some small pot stones and impurities, none resulting in any legs or disturbance in the glass, just added crudity and character. Chamfered sides and base edges. Capped with a nice sloping collar top. Underneath, on the base, what I would call a big sharp tubular pontil residing up inside a nice kick-up. This one is one of the few and far between open pontiled examples of a Dr. Townsends. This pristine beauty has lots of whittle, character and bubbles throughout. Embossed boldly as follows:

“Dr. Townsends - Sarsaparilla- Albany/ N Y”.

Well, it doesn’t take Lassie to figure this out, but it’s from New York, and manufacturing period is circa 1845-1860, deep bluish-green aquamarine, a tad over 9 1/4” high. The sloping collar mouth has a little bit of drip. Pristine condition. Lovely medicine overall, the highlights are the sharp pontil, overall whittle and some great orange peel texture.

I would note some minor whispy tiny scratches just for complete accuracy. This is a real stunner. Money back guarantee for any reason.
