Apologies to those that saw this advert with the eBay AI
description but it wouldn't let me amend it until I could log onto my pc! For
entertainment value the AI listing is left below lol.
I've owned this 1998 factory built Westfield Sport 2000 SEiW
since new, I spec’d it 26 years ago and even visited it while it was being
built. Such has been my affair with it I can account for all bar 40 miles of
its 26K total mileage - this will increase slightly as its in use but I rarely
get the time to drive it I doubt I'll do more than a few hundred more than the
photo shows. MOT is valid through to Apr 25, this is one of the very last cars
Westfield were allowed to build prior to the catalytic convertor rules on low
volume and kit cars were introduced so while it has a superbly flexible
silvertop 2.0 Zetec engine (beautifully under stressed in such a light car)
that was last tuned to 168bhp by Northampton Motorsport - there's that
flexibility of not being limited by a cat should you want to tune her further.
That 2.0 Zetec is fueled by twin weber 45s and controlled by Webcom 3D ignition
- fully programmable with the ECU and its port hidden inside the passenger
footwell away from any weather. The airfilter is a large pipercross one that
extends out the side of the bonnet as you can see in the photos, gives the
intake roar a mini-merlin noise - exhaust is via a Merlin Motorsport repackable
exhaust and together they still don't exceed 98dB (the merlin exhaust was
replaced during lockdown along with new fuel lines and a new fuel pump). As a
factory 98 Sport build she was assembled from all new parts - engine and the
MT75 gearbox, rear LSD diff etc provided to them direct from Ford so wears an
age appropriate R registration. Internally she's got Westfield's contoured dash
(they all said green with black inserts wouldn't work but it so does!) but becasue
she's no longer got a windscreen the buttons for the wash wipe remain but
obviously don't do anything.
Originally supplied with full weather gear and a windscreen
she was pretty much the first road car the factory put an aeroscreen on, it
took me months to persuade Chris Smith to rework the FW400 / race aero screen
to a road and they all universally said I'd be back within 3 months asking for
the screen to be put back on. Well 24 years and about 20K miles later she's
still the most fun you can have on four wheels in my opinion. For those that
haven't driven an aeroscreen car don't fear the nayslayers who talk about
stones and dirt and flies - that all goes over your head below 50mph and a
decent pair of impact glasses protect your vision. Above 50mph or for long distances
then just put a helmet on as she accelerates like a motorbike! Retained and
subtly modified to suit since the aeroscreen was put on is of course a full tonneau
which if you're on your own can be left up on the left. It rolls neatly into
the rear boot area when not in use. garaged the majority of her life she also
has a factory supplied fitted soft cover and an outdoor weatherproof cover. She
does however have 26K+ miles, has been hugely loved as well as used so is not
factory fresh - there are stone chips and an occasional star or scratch in the
gelcoat. Polishes up lovely still and tbh everyone on trackdays complains about
the stone chips on their windscreen and the flat screen windbrake of the
windscreen that she doesn't suffer from (it was quite a revelation maxing her
the first time with the aeroscreen - acceleration just carried on past the
original airbraked top speed! Now top speed is more determined by what you're
comfortable with!
So she's a factory Sport - that means sports seats (super comfy,
especially the drivers seat as for a lot of her life I had a carbon on in but
switched back about 3 years ago as I got old, but they do have marks and cuts
from the harnesses), 4 point harnesses - a race one (FIA but out of date now)
in the drivers side and the original Westfield button press one for the pax.
Floor mounted pedals (I've size 10 feet and have loads of room plus there is a
little moulded cutout into the gearbox tunnel for the clutch foot to rest).
Momo steering wheel attached to a detachable boss plus an additional boss
extension (at 6ft 1 I have the seat usually one notch forward from the rearmost
and have the loveliest driving position in her) - horn on the steering wheel
that feeds a quick rack. Brakes were upgraded 2005 - 2008, first with the
fronts upgraded to Westfields road AP Race setup - 4 pot callipers and vented
discs with a matched AP master cylinder. Absolutely awesome braking, never had
any fade. Rears were latterly upgraded to Westfields billet callipers (Sierra
fitment) which I believe were made for Westfield by High-Spec. Wheels are the
original Westfield 15inch with Toyo 888Rs fitted, a superb tyre with
(regardless of what you hear) all-year-round grip on such a light car. There is
an identical spare bar it has a more road-tin-top Toyo fitted given its only
ever really been used to park the car on!
The 'RAC half' rear roll bar / cage has a high level round LED brake
light which is a superb addition - it's actually a race car rain light so lovely
and bright. The roll cage has a fitment for a forward pole to be bolted to it
that would bolt into the pax foot well - the pole is included but I've never
fitted it and there is no fitment mounted in the pax footwell. A gopro mount is
currently fitted to the roll cage mounting point!
If you've got this far you'll realise this is a much regretted
sale of a much cherished member of my family. 26 years is a long time to own
any car let alone one that has such an outstanding personality. 20 yards in her
and a smile appears regardless of the weather. This is a well-loved and used
Westfield that gives back more than she takes - I've had so many fabulous
adventures in her I know she'll give her next owner just as many. Please don't
hesitate to message or call and come see her at Henlow Bedfordshire.

would only originally allow me to list with :)
