Prinadello, Luigi. Shoot! (Si Gira): The Notebooks of Serafino Gubbio, Cinematograph Operator. Translated by C.K. Scott Moncrieff. New York: E.P. Dutton, 1927.

Offered for sale is copy of Pirandello's Shoot!--in its first edition, the second impression, of April 1927--set in English by C.K. Scott Moncrieff, the first (and IMO ablest) translator of Proust. This is, I assure you, a very handsome book. The jacket, secure in mylar, is in good condition, notwithstanding some wear, loss, and unhappy folding; its ink remains quite bright. The endpapers too are vibrant (though marred by some stray pencilings, and a period ownership inscription).Where the glue that holds them to boards has aged, they are somewhat discolored. Those boards are covered in a lovely paper, flecked with gold foil--a little sunned where the jacket gave way, and discolored at the base owing (I suspect) to moisture--N.B., though, the book carriers no musty odor whatever. There is also some loss to the cloth at the base of the spine, but the text-block is unaffected.
