Details

  • Description: A beautiful choice very fine or much better banknote from Egypt. This is the Cairo 10 May 1952, very desirable 25 piastres banknote issued by the National Bank of Egypt. The banknote is green in color on multi colored background. It depicts the image of Tutankhamen facing forward within an oval frame to the right of the front. The back shows a mosque with Lotus flowers on both sides. The front also indicates that the note was issued according to the decree dated 25th June 1898. This particular note has the serial number 087598 and is from the series (Zal Reh) ZR/3, which is displayed twice in black lettering on the front and not on the back. The note has no watermark. It is signed by Mohammed Amin Fekry the governor of the National Bank of Egypt at the time. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

  • Date: 10 May 1952.

  • Printer: Unknown.

  • Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/8" by ~2 3/4".

  • Pick Number: P 28a and is listed in the Banknote Book as B128a1.

  • Condition: I would grade this banknote as a choice very fine or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has one central vertical fold, which is a bit soiled, but no evident horizontal folds. It is clean with light soiling, no stains, no pinholes, and no graffiti. The note also has no tears, no splits, and no wrinkling. The corners are intact, nicely squared with minimum rounding, if any. The note retains quite a bit of its original stiffness and crispiness. A beautiful and very attractive note in great condition, which would make a great addition to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
