Hyannis Massachusetts Normal School Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate 340

Vintage Cape Cod Window Decoration

Made in USA

This beautiful clear 1984 Pairpoint cup plate features the Hyannis Normal School on Cape Cod. For those of us who do not remember the school, the cup plate will represent the Barnstable Town Hall. The building operated as the Hyannis State Normal school from 1897-1932, the Hyannis State Teacher's College from 1932-1944, later Cape Cod Community College, and then the Barnstable Town Hall. I'm sure I missed a few occupants! The Pairpoint label will be included in the box. This would be a wonderful gift for someone who worked at the Barnstable Town Hall or a former student of one of the schools. Note: The last photo is for size illustration only.

Vintage Pairpoint Glass lead crystal cup plates are works of art that feature intricate designs and decorative elements not commonly found on modern glass. They can add a touch of elegance to a collection or home decor.

The 3.5 inch cup plates were handcrafted using traditional techniques. The artisan created steel molds with hammer and chisel for each intricate design, and then hand-pressed molten glass into the engraved mold using an antique press. This hand process created a series of cup plates that are similar, but not identical. The irregularities highlight the handmade nature of each piece. Each cup plate has the artisan's initials and the Pairpoint trademark embedded within the design.

The cup plate can be used as a small catchall dish to keep track of small trinkets such as keys or jewelry, or as a ring dish to keep all your small, special things safe.
