200-yard, metal-rimmed, hard rubber plate, reel measures 3" in diameter with a 2" wide spool.  It has a very strong "V. L. & A." stamping on the face plate and is stamped "200" on the foot.  The reel was produced by Montague for Von Lengerke & Antoine (V. L. & A.).  Specific characteristics of this reel (handle knob style, foot construction, other hardware) indicate it was produced between approximately 1910 to 1920.  (Earlier and later "Mascalonge and Saltwater" reels had slightly different characteristics.).  It has a sliding click (strong) on the tail plate, and the original leather thumb brake, which is worn.  Plating wear is constrained to a small area at the top of the tail plate rim and the top of one side of the foot.  Super example of this reel, grading at VG+. (ORCA grading is A8/M9.)
