This unusual "Pullman Parlor Car" thread or cotton reel holder advertises "Clark & Co's" "Anchor Sewing Cottons" and it is in "as found" condition.
The car is constructed of paper covered wood.
There are no major losses to the paper covering and it has retained a fair colour, however, there are some small losses, particularly, the opening edges and it does have the inevitable marks, scuffs and marks in places.
The bullfighting illustration to the top is still legible and clear.
The inside of the lid has an applied paper label with "Clark & Cos." details, this has a fair depth colour, although, there are some losses and stains.
The blue lining paper also has some losses.
The wheels and axles have been added or are replacements and it was used as a toy at one point, there is also a small hole drilled through the front to attach to a locomotive!
The base measures 26 cm (10 1/4 inches) long.
Internally, it is 20 cm (8 inches) by 7.5 cm (3 inches).
