Technics SL-P10 CD Player, High End, Very Rare, Parts Or Repair, Read!

See pictures for the exact cosmetic condition of the cd player. If you do not feel like reading the text just know that it is defective due to an impact during shipping and it's not reading discs. Though I do recommend carefully reading the text and asking questions if needed.

While I have done some general checks and mechanical revisions I do not know anything regarding cd player repair. I have not tested anything properly and therefore have no idea what exactly is wrong with the device.

I bought this item as defective. According to the previous owner it has previously been working but after being damaged in shipping it now has issues.  It does not read discs. When most discs are inserted it will try to read them but eventually eject them again. However sometime the laser will slowly move to the right. Not sure what this indicates.

The open close button does not do anything. The only way for the disc to be ejected is for the micro switch to be engaged by hand by opening up the device. It is therefore currently not possible to close the disc drive without a disc being inserted. As such the current disc will be included.

The front panel has some deformations that while not really visible when assembled, have caused some structural damage. Mainly a small tear on the bottom (see pictures).

I have disassembled the front panel and there are no cracks on the pcbs or other unexpected damage, atleast not that I noticed. The disc drive mechanism has had some repairs in the form of bending the metal rod on the bottom that acts as a hinge piece back into place. To keep the indicator light moving slowly this has been mounted backwards. This does not affect anything except for not being able to clip on one of the c clips, I will include this c clip for the sake of completeness.
