William Frank "Excelsior" Model Trumpet
in Bb/A

Here is a fine example of a William Frank trumpet, restored to excellent condition, about as good as you'll ever find on eBay for a Wm. Frank instrument. Some believe that Frank instruments are relatively unknown 'hidden gems' in terms of how they play. This is a quality instrument. Please see the photos.

Made about 1930-1940 in Chicago
Satin Silver plating, with polished silver valve caps and trim.
Gold wash bell
Nickel plated valves
Bore: .464"  (Large)
Bell:  4-1/2"
Serial #:  9436

Excellent condition. Clean inside and out and ready to play.
Silver plating is 100%
Gold wash bell is excellent. The gold plating is not polished off.
No dents. Some very small dings and blemishes here and there as expected for the age. Has never had any major damage or dents.
New corks and felts. (The valve springs are not shown in the photos, but are included.)
Valves are very air-tight and smooth. Excellent compression.

The William Frank Co. was a medium-small instrument manufacturer in the Chicago area from about 1911-1956. They had several instrument lines of their own brand, and made stencil instruments as well as bells and parts for a few others. Exact dating of Frank instruments is difficult, as no complete serial number lists remain. Serial lists available online vary widely and conflict in dates. My guess of 1930's for this instrument is consistent with photos and other info gathered online. It could be somewhat older.

Compact generic case is clean and solid, but showing its age in the peeling covering. I don't know if this is an original case.

The "A" stop rod assembly is missing.

Auction includes the trumpet, music lyre, and case. No mouthpiece or other accessories.

NOTE: The mouthpiece is shown to make nice photos of my collection. It is not included in the auction.

Instrument is offered as-is. No returns. It is about 90 years old and not perfect like a new instrument, and no claim is made that it is. Please see all photos. This instrument comes without a warranty, and may have minor fit and finish issues typical for vintage instruments. Both the photos and the text description are part of the listing. Sale is final. I am not a store where you can try out instruments or mouthpieces and return them if you don't like them. And again in case you missed it, a mouthpiece is not included in the auction. Thanks for your interest.
