JULY 1923 TO CHRISTMAS 1924-5 "BRIGHT YOUNG THINGS" OLIVIA WYNDHAM, PHOTOGRAPHER AND GAY ICON, SIGNATURES AND PHOTOS IN LITTLE HALLANDS VISITOR BOOK.

LEATHER BOUND VISITOR BOOK LITTLE HALLANDS (POSSIBLY IN BISHOPSTONE EAST SUSSEX) CONTAINING NAMES OF VISITORS IN JULY TO DECEMBER 1923, JANUARY TO AUGUST 1924 AND CHRISTMAS 1924-5 (THE LAST ALL WRITTEN BY PENCIL IN THE SAME HAND)

The signatures of those High Society visitors include: Olivia Wyndham;  Denis Mackail the novelist (a grandson of Burne-Jones) and his wife Diana; and members of the Asquith and Pollock families.

7 pages of signatures (a possible research project?) and 1 page of names in pencil. There are also 5 photographs: one silver-nitrate of a very glamorous young woman (possibly Olivia herself?) and another close-up of the same. Also a separate loose photo mounted on card in the manner of Man Ray (approx 6 by 6.5 inches). There is also a stray modern snap from 1952.

The rest of the book is blank.  It measures approx 9.3 by 7.4 by 1.1 inches and weighs 796g unpackaged.

Little Hallands, Bishopstone, Sussex was sold by the widowed Lady Stewart in 1922 but we have been unable to find the owner, although it could possibly have been rented.  There also appears to have been a Little Hallands in Kent. However there were Pollocks living in Crowborough in Sussex in the early 1920s so it is quite likely that this was the house in Sussex.
