A supergroup that's enjoyed four decades of sustained success and sales of over 130 million albums, Genesis has also won immense critical acclaim and sent both its front men, Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins, on to superstar solo careers. Formed in the U.K. in 1966 by Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Anthony Phillips, and Peter Gabriel on lead vocals, the group first rose to fame on the strength of their dramatic progressive rock. Their most successful era, the late '70s through early '80s, came when Collins took over lead vocals - plus drumming and songwriting. The ultimate power trio, the Collins, Rutherford and Banks line-up, took Genesis to new heights of global fame, delivering rock-pop album masterpieces and stadium shows that are now legendary.

1976 - 1982 Vinyl Box Set In 1977, after the 'Wind & Wuthering' album, guitarist Steve Hackett left, feeling that he was not getting his fair share of music recorded. The others understood but that wasn't the way Genesis operated. Phil Collins came out from behind the drum kit to be the new singer. The critics wrote them off and mourned the passing of an era. "People look back on that first era with a rosy glow and there was a lot of great music but we weren't selling many records," says Tony Banks. "Our next album, 'A Trick Of The Tail', doubled our sales." "Once we were down to a three piece with Phil as a fully participating songwriter we started writing everything in the studio," says Tony. "And the songs tended to be more spontaneous. It seemed to bring out the best in us, individually and collectively." 'Duke' was Genesis' first Number One album in the UK, reaching Number 11 in America and giving them their first Top 20 single there with 'Misunderstanding', a songwriting debut for Phil Collins that led to his famous parallel solo career. "'Abacab' was for me a real pleasure to do," says Mike Rutherford. "It was always an adventure we faced without any preconceived ideas. It was, 'Here we go, hope it works and let's see which way it takes us'. And Phil's voice had developed. He'd gone from being a drummer who sang to being a great singer."

When Both Sides came out in November of 1993. The record company didn't promote it and neither did VH1 or MTV. When I listened to it, I thought this is Phil Collins at his most serious. It seems to me that Phil was trying to say something without the typical humor he uses.  Perhaps it is because the nature of the music is so serious. I happen to like it when an artist bares his soul, and Phil did an excellent job here. I have all of his solo ALBUMS and all of Genesis' as well, and I have to say that Both Sides is probably Phil's best solo LP. Sure, No Jacket Required has all the hits and is very well produced. Sure, Face Value and Hello, I Must Be Going are very good LPS as well, but Both Sides touches an emotional nerve that those others do not. Listen to the intimacy Phil exudes on such songs as "Can't Turn Back The Years" and "I've Forgotten Everything." Listen to the messages imbedded in "Both Sides Of The Story" and "We're Sons Of Our Fathers." I can't think of Phil being so honest with his feelings as he is on this album. It's not the typical, uptempo Phil that most fans enjoy, it's more mature and painful.  Both Sides is a must have for any rock collector

Limited double 180 gram vinyl LP pressing. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is the sixth studio album from Genesis, released as a double album in 1974 on Charisma Records. It is their last album recorded with Peter Gabriel as lead vocalist before his departure from the group in May 1975. It's concept centers around a Puerto Rican youth in New York City named Rael and his spiritual journey of self-discovery and the characters he meets on the way. Recording was met with several incidents, including Gabriel's temporary absences and his insistence on writing it's lyrics, which put strains on the group. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway peaked at #10 on the UK Album Chart and #41 on the US Billboard 200. Two singles were released, "Counting Out Time" and "The Carpet Crawlers".

Davis has also worked on all of the Genesis retrospective reissues. They also feature a bold new artwork concept in which Collins' has recreated his poses from the original album covers with new photography that was shot in the present day.
