ENGLISH ORGAN-CASES BY THE REV. ANDREW FREEMAN. First published by Geo. Aug. Mate, London 1921, reprinted by Old Chapel Lane Books, Burgh le Marsh, Lincolnsire, 2012, 120 pages 60 illustrations, of which 7 are line drawings by T. H. Lilley and the remainder photographs, mainly taken by Andrew Freeman.

The book has chapters on - The organ case in English churches, The evoution of the organ case, Existing cases of the pre-reformation period, 1660-1790, Debasement and revival, Modern examples and tendencies.  The book began life as an article in The Dictionary of Organs and Organists, in 1912. Few copies of the 1921 book were printed and it has been out of print since then and so has become quite rare. I hope this A5 stapled reprint will make it available again for researchers, organists and organ builders. Anderw Freeman was born in Newbury in 1876 and after graduating from Cambridge, was organist of several London churches. He was ordained in 1915 and eventually became vicar of Standish-cum-Hardwick where he died in 1947
