BILSTON & BATTERSEA ENAMELS
ENJOY IDLING
ENAMEL BOX

This is a very early 1970's design on a large round box measuring 2 1/4 inches, 6 cms across.
A beautifully painted scene of a man and lady punting on a river is encircled by the witty text reading; "It is impossible to enjoy idling thoroughly - Unless one has plenty of work to do"
The inside lid has a charcoal outline of a leafy garland.
The base is a rich deep pink enamel with a decorative vertical striped pattern.
A wonderful historic example of an early enamel.
It is in excellent condition with a firmly closing gilded mount with presentation case.
