Octavos, new edition, pp. [xiv], 460, 20 (Table des Problemes), 32 plates; [ii], 462, 14, 55 plates, some fold-outs, full contemporary calf with gilt stamped lettering and decoration on spines, six compartments inside raised bands, all edges tinted red, former owner's ID inked onto preliminary blanks. All text in French. Presents math and science problems to challenge and amuse the reader, first published in the late 17th century in four volumes. I don't know whether the present set is complete at 2 volumes. See DSB X, 264.

The Mathematical Association of America's website has this to say about Ozanam and his books: "Jacques Ozanam (1640-1717) was a prolific French mathematician who is best remembered for his Récréations mathématiques et physiques first published in two volumes in 1694. ... The work was eventually expanded to four volumes and saw ten editions over two hundred years."
